A 48-year-old has been arrested after allegedly threatening to "attend the Weighbridge in possession of a handgun and taser."
Police said they made the arrest on Sunday afternoon following what they describe as a number of threatening posts on Facebook.
A spokesperson explained in a statement: "As a result of these threats, a 48-year-old male was arrested at his home address in St. Helier this afternoon and remains in Police custody pending further inquiries.
"Searches are ongoing at the premises, however no firearms have been recovered and no persons were harmed during this incident."
