ART FIX: What does Shakespeare with an 80s twist look like?

Friday 16 June 2023

What do electronic music, a Shakespeare play set in the 80s and a hypnotist all have in common? You can enjoy them all over the next few days!

Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here's this week's offering...

The event, hosted by the National Trust for Jersey overlooking St. Ouen's Bay, will see performances from Irish duo 'Stray Melody', local band 'Word On The Street' and warm-up bands from Hautlieu School.

All money raised from ticket sales go towards the Coastline Campaign, which aims to secure 1,000 vergées of unspoiled coastline by 2036. You can find out more about them HERE

Tickets are £10 for members of the National Trust, £15 for adults and £5 for children. They are available HERE.

One of the world’s most respected and experienced hypnotists  is hosting a show at the Jersey Arts Centre this Saturday.

A review from the Sydney Morning Herald read: “The old hypno-tricks are gone, replaced by new, more inventive and intelligent material. Andrew Newton’s talent lies in his ability to magic up the absurdly funny from the minds of ordinary people and his professionalism and experience shine through."

The show is taking place at the Jersey Arts Centre on Saturday 17 June at 19:45. Tickets are £20 for adults and £14 for those aged 16 or under. You can pick them up HERE.

Can you feel the tremors?

Jersey-born musician Tom Falle, AKA 'Rhumba Club', has been carving out an impressive path across the UK since his debut album ‘Welcome to the Rhumba Club’ in 2021. He is now returning to Jersey for a one-time only gig, with support from local singer Shea.

The event is taking place at Capital House on Saturday 7 June with doors opening at 19:00. Tickets are available HERE on a pay-what-you-can basis.

Twelfth Night will be taking place at Samarès Manor from Monday the 19 June to Friday 23 June. The performance starts at 19:30.

Tickets are £16 adults and £10 students. They can be purchased HERE
