A variety of local musicians and poets are set to perform at the Blue Note Bar this week during the festive period, offering a mix of rock, pop, ska, punk, and folk genres.
Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.
Here's this week's offering...
The Broad Street-based Blue Note Bar will be welcoming a local ska-punk band called the Pirates this evening from 20:00 until 23:00.
The event also features a DJ and promises to be a "Christmas spectacular musical feast".
The band said: "This will be your last chance to see us, for alas, we will be taking a six-month hiatus in 2024!"
Tickets can be purchased on the door for £4 and more information can be found HERE.
If rock music is more your thing, you can visit The Blue Note Bar on Saturday from 18:00 to see five bands from the local rock scene.
The lineup features post-punk group 88 BunkFace, four-piece rock group FlashMob, 5-piece indie rock band Intermission, super-band Jaded Things and industrial rock band Tenson.
Tickets can be purchased on the door for £5 and more information can be found HERE.
The Blue Note Bar will also be welcoming local musicians and poets for a folky night on Thursday 28 December to raise money for mental health charity Mind Jersey.
There will be performances by pop electronica singer Le Montais (aka Rebecca Lewis), singer-songwriter Nick Hilder and dark-folk singer Winterfalle (aka Sam Falle) among others.
In between the musical performances, wordsmith John Henry Falle will perform poems as his multi-award nominated character, The Story Beast.
Emilie Coward from Mind Jersey said: “Mind Jersey would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Blue Note Bar and 'What the Folk' for putting on a night of merriment and entertainment to raise valuable funds for our charity."
Nick Hilder said: "Tired? People not happy about their presents? Not looking forward to 2024? Don't worry. Now the Elves have done their hard work, come down to the Blue Note on Thursday 28th and celebrate with a mix of Jersey's finest musicians and storytellers for merriment, singing and enjoyment. Expect Elves on their baddest behaviour."
The event is free to enter although donations will be collected.
An hour-long Christmas concert with Britten's 'A Ceremony of Carols' and music by Handel, Bach, Berlioz and Poulenc will be held at the Town Church on Saturday at 19:30.
