A beloved, princess-filled pantomime is hitting Jersey Arts Centre this week... Oh no it isn't! Oh yes it is!
Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.
Here's this week's offering...
The Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club's pantomime this year is Rapunzel, running at the Jersey Arts Centre from 4-14 January 2024.
Rapunzel is stolen at birth by Gothel, who brings her up as her child, but she is saved by Rudi.
Nanny Hilda and her children, Max and Maxine, are also determined to find Rapunzel and find themselves in some comic situations on their journey.
Along the way, audiences will meet other fairytale favourites, including princesses Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Aurora, Anna and Cinderella.
The show promises a chance to boo the baddies, cheer the hero and laugh along to traditional pantomime jokes and slapstick comedy.
Tickets and performance times can be found on the Jersey Arts Centre website.
The Broad Street-based Blue Note Bar will be welcoming three female-fronted local bands tomorrow evening.
Under-18 band The Salute, pop-punk band the Kickbacks, and indie-rock band INTERMISSION will take to the stage to celebrate the new year this weekend.
Tickets can be purchased on the door from 19:30 for £5 and more information can be found HERE.
La Haule Manor is set to host an open mic jazz event every Saturday evening until March 2024.
Philip Le Claire will also share his favourite tunes from the Great American Songbook, featuring a few modern twists and some Bossa Nova.
There will also be tapas and A La Carte menu for dinner, but non-diners are welcome.

The annual Battle of Jersey walk is to take place this weekend to mark the “bravery and sacrifice” of soldiers who marched to St Helier to defend the island from a French invasion and commemorate the 1781 battle and the heroics of Major Francis Peirson and his men.
Starting in a different parish each year, islanders walk from Trinity Parish Hall to the Royal Square.
The Parish of St Helier is then expecting to hold a parade from Town Hall to the Royal Square.
The event culminates in the Square with a re-enactment of the famous painting of the battle – The Death of Major Peirson by John Singleton Copley.
Speeches, prayers and a talk will be followed by drinks served from the Peirson pub.
Islanders who want to take part in the walk should gather at Trinity Parish Hall at 8:15 on Saturday for an 8:30 start. The Parade leaves the Town Hall at 11:45.
Potty Eco Pots' next 'Rag Trade' event will be held this Saturday in St John, with islanders invited to bring along any unwanted clothes and items to be taken home by someone else for free.
The event will run from 11:00-15:00 this Saturday at St John’s Parish Hall.
There will also be a free gifting event next Saturday 13 January at Javrin School from 9:30 to 12:45 alongside the St Helier Repair Café.
