St. Clement's roadworks hit a block

Tuesday 06 November 2018

Resurfacing works on St. Clement’s inner road have hit a roadblock in the form of a failed asphalt plant.

The work was due to be completed by the end of half-term on 4 November, but had to stop approximately 110 metres short of the junction with Plat Douet Road when the supply of asphalt stopped.

The Growth Housing and Environment Department say the plant is being repaired, but are unable to confirm when it will be up and running again.

But they did confirm that once the repairs are completed, the contractor will return to complete the resurfacing of the remaining section of road, which has been re-opened with a temporary surface until the work can be completed.

This work is part of a three-phase resurfacing project on La Grande Route de St. Clement. The first phase was over the summer holidays and the final section, outside the Samares Nurseries housing development, will be resurfaced when the new homes are nearing completion.
