The Assistant Minister for Treasury and Home Affairs is standing for re-election as Deputy of St. Clement with the Jersey Alliance party.
Deputy Lindsay Ash, who was elected for the first time in 2018, said it has been an “honour” and “pleasure” to represent the parish in the States Assembly for the last few years.
“St. Clement is a very special parish, with a strong community spirit, which has been particularly evident during the pandemic,” he said.
“It has been a challenging time to be a politician during the last few years with Covid; indeed it has been a challenging time for us all.
“I have done all I can to help islanders to get through this difficult time, working with colleagues in Government to provide support to both businesses and individuals.”
During the pandemic, Mr Ash was involved with the 'Spend Local' scheme, where all islanders were given a £100 card to help stimulate the economy.
He said the project, which cost £11m, was “particularly successful at a crucial time”.
Mr Ash began his career in London as a futures broker, before moving to Jersey in 2000 to work in a range of financial institutions before beginning his political career.
He was elected in 2018 as Deputy for St. Clement, following his campaign with the slogan ‘Get on the L.Ash’, reflecting his pledge to reduce alcohol prices in Jersey.
Since then, has served as Assistant Minister for Treasury and Resources, and Assistant Minister for Home Affairs, as well as on the Planning Committee.
The St. Clement constituency is the only one with boundaries that have not been changed since the 2018 election, and together with St. Brelade and St. Saviour is one of just three constituencies that coincide exactly with parish boundaries.
The Parish currently has two deputies – Lindsay Ash and Susie Pinel. With the new arrangements, it will have four.
