Louise Downie, Jersey Heritage’s Director of Curation and Experience, explained: “The 80s was such a colourful and amazing decade, and the exhibition has been hugely popular with locals and visitors alike. 

"We would encourage anyone who hasn’t seen the exhibition yet, or who would like to see it one more time, to head to the Museum before the exhibition closes – especially for the bargain price of 80p!”

‘Bergerac’s Island – Jersey in the 80s’ opened in March 2017 and has since been seen by 56,000 people. The exhibition looks at how national and international events affected the lives of ordinary people in Jersey, including The Great Storm, the Falklands War, the Newall murders and the flooding of Queen’s Valley.

Ms Downie added: “The 80s left an indelible mark on our lives today - television, films, music, gay culture and what it was like to be a child are all explored in the exhibition, as well as the popular TV series that gives its name to the exhibition.

"In true 1980s style, it culminates with an opportunity to go clubbing, with a disco dance floor and the best – and worst – of 1980smusic!”

The exhibition will come to an end at the close of business on Sunday 30 December. The 80p entry price will apply to the Museum as a whole today and tomorrow. Entry is free for Jersey Heritage members.
