Andium Homes is starting work on designs to regenerate the north of town and build 140 new affordable homes and a short stay car park for shoppers.
Last week the housing company took on the former Ann Court Site from the States and hopes to get building on what is now a car park the year after next.
Andium Homes Chief Executive Ian Gallichan said: “The area around the Ann Court site is an important location for Andium Homes and one where we have recently invested in both new and refurbished homes with our projects at De Quetteville Court and Brooklyn Court.”
The plan is for TTS to lease the 137 space short stay shopper car park from them when it’s all finished and they are looking at engaging with other stakeholders to further enhance the north of town.
TTS Minister Eddie Noel said: “Additional shopper parking for 137 vehicles will help support local traders by providing convenient access to those using the Markets, West’s Centre and other facilities in the east of town.”
If their outline plans are approved work on the project should start in 2017.
Housing Minister Anne Pryke said: “This is another example of government and affordable housing providers working together to provide the good quality homes that Islanders need, while also delivering investment and improvement in this part of our town.
This fits with our overall aim of improving the Island’s housing - focusing on supply, quality, and better neighbourhoods.”
