Two bodies recovered from the wreck of the trawler which sunk after colliding with a Condor freight ship last week were brought to shore last night.

Ports of Jersey said the search of the wreck site will still continue.

The three fishermen on board L'Ecume II – Michael Michieli, Larry Simyunn and Jervis Baligat – went missing after the 18-metre fishing boat collided with Condor's Commodore Goodwill off St. Ouen's Bay last Thursday.

In a statement released around 21:20, a spokesperson for Ports of Jersey said: "The two bodies recovered from L'Ecume II will be brought to shore later tonight.

"The Freja will then return to site to continue the search.

"Digital evidence, including survey video footage and other sonar data, will be examined by specialist teams in the coming days to allow further analysis of the debris field."

At a vigil service at the Town Church yesterday evening, candles were lit by loved ones in memory of the trio on board L'Ecume II, as well as the islanders whose lives were lost during the Pier Road explosion in the early hours of Saturday morning.
