Call for budding filmmakers

Tuesday 10 June 2014

Local filmmakers could see their productions premiered on the Island this autumn.

The organisers of the Branchage Festival are inviting people based in the Island and anyone from Jersey who is away making films overseas to send in their short productions which could get picked to star in the festival in September.

The films can be of any genre but can’t be more than 25 minutes long and must have been made after September 2011 – the date of the last Festival.

All the entries will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts, picked by the London Short Film Festival.

LSFF Director and Branchage Shorts Programmer Philip Ilson said: "The London Short Film Festival is excited to see the latest work emerging from the Channel Islands. Following the success of two-time BAFTA-nominated Jersey filmmaker Michael Pearce, we hope to see the next generation of talent come through."

The best films will be screened at an event in the Spiegeltent in Millbrook’s Coronation Park on Friday 26 September and the filmmakers will get together at an event afterwards, hosted by Shooting People – a network for independent film-makers.

Some of the films will also be picked as support shorts played out before feature films at other festival locations around the Island.

The films have to be in by 30 June and sent as a password protected or open link to info@shortfilms.org.uk

This September will be the first time the Branchage Festival has been held in the Island since 2011. It runs from 24 – 28 September.
