The Jersey Branch of the British Heart Foundation is on the look out for new volunteers to help raise awareness of heart disease and raise funds.
The charity recently received national award success as it was named the Best British Heart Foundation Branch of 2017 and are hoping to build on this success to expand.
The charity is appealing to islanders to "give the gift of time" and sign up to its volunteering programme in order to support the branch. Whilst there are key areas which the branch wishes to focus on over the coming months, they are urging anyone interested in joining the team to get in touch and not to feel limited to specific areas of expertise.
The BHF relies on volunteers to help support many aspects of its work from working with local schools, groups and associations to providing support at our charity events. Giving time doesn’t just benefit the BHF but also gives volunteers the opportunity to build, develop and learn new skills, work towards qualifications and gain experience whilst knowing they are doing something amazing in the fight against heart disease.
Haydn Taylor, Chairman of the British Heart Foundation, Jersey Branch said: “Volunteers are absolutely integral to the success of BHF and play a vital part in helping us support more people affected by heart and circulatory conditions. We appreciate every minute people can spare and hope that in return our volunteers gain a lot from working with us.”
Around 7 million people are affected by cardiovascular disease in the Channel Islands and across the UK and the time given by volunteers goes towards supporting the BHF’s vital research into preventing and treating these devastating diseases.
