Crashed police car causes traffic jams

Tuesday 20 May 2014

Long traffic queues built up this morning on the way into St Helier from St Clement, after a police car overturned on the coast road.

It took place just before 0530 this morning, and it's not thought other vehicles were involved. Police say the car wasn't responding to an emergency when it over-turned on the road between Pontorson Lane and Samares Lane.

The 38 year old driver was taken to hospital, but the Police say that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Crash investigators closed the road for several hours, causing long tailbacks for commuters this morning on St Clement's inner road.

The police say the file will be sent to the Attorney General, once the investigation is completed.
