Cyber warning after firms suffer "substantial financial losses"

Friday 18 May 2018

Jersey's finance regulator has issued a strong warning to local companies about a current cyber attack which they say has caused local firms "substantial financial losses."

Jersey’s Financial Services Commission says a number of firms have been targeted in what it calls "impersonation attacks."

The commission goes on to say: “we believe that this is not an isolated incident and that cyber criminals are impersonating individuals from within their own firms.”

But the commission is keeping tight-lighted about the details adding: “we are not able to share further information at this time, but we are asking local companies and islanders to be extra vigilant.”

Their advice is to contact the JFSC supervision team and the police.
