Police are appealing for the driver of a white or silver car that they believe witnessed a serious crash at Bel Royal a fortnight ago to come forward.
They believe that the driver of the car might hold the key to unlocking what happened on the early morning of 27 July, when a red BMW smashed into a wall at Bel Royal, leaving its driver with serious injuries.
Firefighters who attended the accident said that it could have been even worse – the driver narrowly avoided an electricity distribution box and a central heating oil tank.
The car was believed to have been heading west from town when the accident took place.
In a follow-up statement, the police have urged anyone who knows anything to come forward.
They said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision at Bel Royal at approximately 0220 hours on the 27 July 2015 involving a red BMW.
“Police would specifically like to hear from the driver of a white/silver car, which passed the scene of the collision heading from the direction of First Tower towards St Peters Valley and is believed to have witnessed the incident.
“Police would also like to hear from any members of the public who may have seen the collision and ask them to call Police Headquarters on 612612 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
