Digital cruising guide to launch at Boat Show this weekend

'Boat Know How' - an online boating aid exclusively developed in Jersey - is being launched by a local company at the Jersey Boat Show this weekend.

The website contains passage planners and 'short hop' trip packs containing the technical information necessary to complete a journey between a range of departure points and destinations. There are over 300 routes covering the UK (Land’s End to the Solent), France (Cherbourg to Paimpol) & the Channel Islands.

Cirsty de Gruchy, one of the Directors of Boat Know How Web Publishing said: "We are excited to be able to launch the Boat Know How Cruising Guide at the 2017 Jersey Boat Show, as Jersey is where our love of the sea began."

"Boating has always been an important part of our family life and this project has been a culmination of a lifetime of enjoyment on the sea and our wish to share this with others. The beauty of the trip packs are that they contain enough information to help a complete novice plan their first trips yet contain useful detail for the experienced sailor."

Boat Know How is said to have come about through "a lifetime of enjoyment on the sea, pottering and cruising on boats" and aims to help marine users with all their navigation needs.

They say their focus is not on “what to do” but instead it reflects what experienced skippers “actually do.”

Islanders interested in the new online navigation aid can check them out this weekend at the Jersey Boat Show:
