It’s full of pre-historic attractions but Jersey’s newest adventure park has had to go back in time to please some of its neighbours.
Tamba Park has scaled back its opening times to suit a couple of people who weren’t happy living next door to the mighty roars of dinosaurs.
The attraction that has taken over the old Lion Park site in St Mary boasts 16 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs that are all sensor operated.
Park Manager Michael Bee said: “A few of the local neighbours complained about the noise from the dinosaurs and the noise from the kids’ playground.
“We’re going to put up a big acoustic fence and change the speakers so that the noise doesn’t carry as much.”
After meeting with local residents on Wednesday night and getting feedback from visitors, the owners have decided to open late just two nights a week – on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Tamba Park has been doing a roaring trade since it opened at the beginning of the month.
Mr Bee said: “It’s been amazing. We did over 2,500 people over the weekend and we’re getting somewhere between three and four hundred a day. It’s been really good.”
The Park’s not just been set up to please dinosaur lovers – it will also help starving children in Zimbabwe.
Tamba Park's owner, entrepreneur Jonathan Ruff set up Ruff’s Kitchen three years ago – a charity that now feeds over 5,000 children in the country every day. He hopes the Park will help the charity grow and that by 2018, it will be feeding over 20,000 children across 30 schools in Africa.
