Doctor accused of “inappropriate” access to medical records

Thursday 10 December 2020

A Jersey GP has been accused of accessing the medical records of more than a dozen patients who were not his own without their consent

Dr Michael Vincent virtually appeared before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal, which runs hearings for doctors whose fitness to practise is called into question, on 27 November.

He was accused of accessing the medical records of 13 patients on “one or more occasions” between 5 March and 5 July 2018.

It is alleged that this was “inappropriate” as the patients were not his own, and there was therefore “no clinical reason for him to access their records and he did so without their consent.”

The full case into Dr Vincent’s alleged misconduct will be heard in January in Manchester.
