A driver had to be treated by paramedics after mounting the pavement and colliding with railings outside a supermarket in St. Helier, Police have said in an appeal for more information.

The collision was reported to have happened around 13:15 in the area of Val Plaisant, outside Age Concern and Morrisons.

"The RTC involved a silver Peugeot Partner, was travelling southbound along Val Plaisant, from the Midvale Road/Val Plaisant junction in the direction of St. Thomas's Church," officers said.

"The vehicle mounted the pavement and collided with metal railings just before the pedestrian crossing which is immediately outside the Morrison's daily store. The vehicle had considerable damage to its front end and required towing from the scene.

"The driver, who was the sole occupant, sustained minor injuries and was treated by the Ambulance Service at the scene. Fire and Rescue also attended."

Anyone who saw what happened or who has more information is being asked to contact Police on 612612 or make a report via independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online.
