A recently released prisoner has been fined for causing a drunken stir in a local café.

Christopher Henry Hall shouted, swore and refused to leave Bean Around the World, the Magistrate's Court heard this week.

The court heard that the 49-year-old was released on Friday 26 January.

However, less than a week later on Tuesday (30 January), he entered the Halkett Place coffee shop while under the influence of alcohol and began approaching customers.

When asked to leave he refused and swore at staff until the police arrived.

Appearing in the Magistrate's Court, Hall admitted drunk and disorderly behaviour and apologised.

“When I’m sober, I’m a completely different person," he said.

He was fined £150 and allowed to pay at the rate of £5 per week.
