Islanders planning to stand in this autumn’s elections have just a few weeks to get their profiles together for the new website set up as an essential guide to voting in Jersey.
Prospective candidates are being asked to upload their name, contact details and photo to the official election website before it goes live at the beginning of next month.
They will also be profiled in a new brochure being sent out to all Island households ahead of the election on 15 October.
The www.vote.je website has been set up by the Privileges and Procedures Committee to give Islanders everything they need to know about registering to vote and the election process.
Committee Chairman Deputy Jeremy Maçon said: “Vote.je is the place where everyone can go to find out about the candidates who are standing for election in their parish or district. We are giving prospective candidates two weeks to upload their details to the site before publishing their photograph and contact details on 1st September. After the nomination meetings, candidates’ manifestos will also be published on vote.je.”
There are eight Senators, 12 Constables and 29 Deputies’ seats up for grabs when Islanders go to the polls on 15 October. Those elected will serve three and a half years, until May 2018.
Islanders planning to stand can upload their details to the website by visiting: www.vote.je/candidates/upload/
