There is an extra £1,000 up for grabs for Islanders who get in early to try their luck at winning a million pounds.

The 6,000 tickets for Jersey Hospice Care’s Million Pound Lottery are going on sale on Monday 11 May and this year there is a chance of winning an extra £1,000 if you get yours in the first four weeks.

Tickets cost £300 and most of them are likely to be snapped up by syndicates, pooling their money and hoping they’ve got the golden ticket or won either £100,000, £75,000, £50,000, £25,000 or one of the five prizes of £10,000.

Jersey Hospice Care’s Chief Executive Derek Hoddinott said: “The start of our Million Pound Lottery is always exciting. We’re looking forward to another sell out year and hope that the extended cash prize incentive will encourage syndicates to get together as quickly as possible.”

The lottery has become the charity’s biggest annual fundraiser since it was introduced nine years ago and this year looks likely to raise half a million pounds – enough to run the In Patient Unit for four months of the year.

You can get hold of a ticket at the NatWest branches in Bath Street in St Helier and at Les Quennevais in St Brelade between 11 and 22 May or from the Reception at Jersey Hospice Care.

The lucky numbers will be drawn on 4 September.
