Eye-spy a new Fantasy Wild Wood at Durrell

Saturday 17 December 2016

A new Fantasy Wild Wood has sprung up at Durrell nestled between the Macaques and the Howler monkeys.

The new mini adventure is geared towards children aged four to seven where they can hunt for things like giant toadstools, ladybirds, squirrels and bird's nests.

The team at Durrell have created an ‘eye-spy’ nature trail to capture the imagination of little minds where children and their parents can discover a secret path that meanders through the wild wood and past a woodcutter’s cottage.

Durrell's CEO Dr Lesley Dickie said: "We wanted to offer something for children under seven in the zoo that was both educational and fun. Our education department did a lot of research with early learning specialists to really understand the needs of our younger visitors."

Children can pick up their explorers guide from the Visitors Centre.

The Fantasy Wild Wood is open to all members and visitors to the Wildlife Park as well as school trips. The naturally enclosed space is situated between the Macaques and the Howler monkeys and is open from 9.30am – 5pm every day.
