Father and daughter team up for latest Plays Rough offering

Thursday 30 April 2015

Plays Rough are keeping it in the family – a father and daughter are teaming up for tonight’s theatre offering at the Jersey Opera House studio.

18-year-old Martha MacDonald is one of the cast staging a reading of Simon MacDonald’s new play – The New Playground Near the Three Big Houses: A Love Story.

Plays Rough founder Leon Fleming said: “As something a bit different from our usual evenings of fantastic, varied entertainment we’re putting on a what we hope will be another super successful staged reading of a full-length play; a superbly crafted piece of theatre writing by long-time Plays Rough contributor Simon MacDonald!”

Nine local performers will be acting out the Tottenham based love story that “occurs in the present and could be someone’s future if they make the wrong choice".

Leon said: “As it has been since its beginning, Plays Rough is a collaboration of writers, performers and audience; existing for the benefit of all three elements and existing only when all three elements come together."

Plays Rough was started back in 2011 after encouragement from national theatre company Paines Plough who promote new writing all over the UK.

The show starts at 8pm, tickets cost £5 and you can get them from the Jersey Opera House Box Office on 511115.
