Ferguson takes a half-time lead

Wednesday 07 September 2016

Former Senator Sarah Ferguson is out in front in the Senatorial by-election with six parishes down.

With St Peter, St Ouen, St Lawrence, St Mary, Grouville and St John already tallying up their votes, the 74-year-old has topped the poll in all of them with 1,314 votes.

Deputy Sam Mezec is in second place with 862 votes - 452 behind the early front runner.

If the trend continues, it would be a political return for Mrs Ferguson who was ousted from the States in the 2014 General Election, when she lost by a whisker to eighth-placed Senator Philip Ozouf.
