Festivalgoer ‘seriously injured’ in fight

Monday 09 July 2018

A festivalgoer was seriously injured following a two-man bust-up at a dance music event on the weekend.

The fight took place on Saturday evening between 20:00 and 21:00 at ‘Out There’ Festival, a new festival based at Val de la Mare promising a “carnival atmosphere in one of Jersey’s most jaw-dropping outdoor locations.”

Police said the two men fought near the male toilets by the drum and bass stage, and that one of the pair sustained “serious injuries” as a result.

They’re now seeking witnesses to the incident, which is being treated as a ‘Grave and Criminal Assault’.

Out There organisers nonetheless hailed the event as a success. “…There was magic in the air at Val De La Mare!” they commented.

“Thanks to all those who helped make this new dream possible. There has been so much hard work and preparation go into this over the past few months, and yesterday it was all worth it. We couldn’t have asked for a better day or a better atmosphere, and we hope all of you had as much fun as we did. It felt like a truly historic day for lovers of electronic music in Jersey!

“This story has only just begun, Jersey is officially OUT-THERE, and the unknown will call your name once again!”

Anyone who witnessed the fight or with any information is urged to contact Police on 01534 612612 or make an anonymous report via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
