Film festival still looking for a sponsor

Wednesday 23 July 2014

The 2014 Jersey Film Festival due to be held in Howard Davis Park next month is still seeking sponsorship.

Running over six nights, from 9th to 14th August, the open-air festival is free to all those attending and has become one of the biggest family events in the tourism calendar, attracting many thousands every summer to enjoy the different films on show.

This year, it celebrates its 20th anniversary and organizer Kevin Lewis - who runs the event with his wife, Isabella - has a number of special films lined up, details of which will be announced in the coming days.

However, the staging of this year’s festival is dependent on sponsors coming forward to help cover its costs and preserve the tradition of making it free and accessible to all.

And without the necessary funding there’s no chance of running even a scaled-down event because most of the costs are involved in the setting up and taking down of the rig and technical equipment.

“In terms of the timing, it all needs to come together in the next week if we’re to go ahead as planned, “ said Mr Lewis.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event should contact Mr Lewis on 07797 717982.
