The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service was called out in the early hours of this morning after dozens of islanders were woken by a mystery loud bang.
People took to social media to say they heard the blast at about 01:30.
It is believed the bang came from St. Helier, but was heard in several other parishes.
Writing on Facebook, one islander said: "It woke me up in terror. It was so close and loud… sounded like a gun shot..there were two… the second not as loud as the first.
"I waited for sirens but there weren’t any so assumed it was left over fireworks??"

Police confirmed that the force did not receive any calls, but the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service were called out at about 01:40 to investigate a bang and a "strange odour" at the bottom of Pier Road, near Mulcaster Street.
Island Energy also attended, but nothing was found, Police said.
