Firefighters in Jersey had to deal with four separate incidents in 45 minutes this morning, stretching their resources to the limit.
Just after 10:00 they had to go to a fire in a St Helier home, which had been caused by a candle.
The occupant had already put the fire out, but had to be treated for breathing in smoke.
Shortly afterwards the Fire and Rescue Service were also called to deal with a TV aerial which was swinging loose in the force 9 winds, and two automatic fire alarms in town.
The Fire Service has now warned islanders to be careful over Christmas. A spokesman commented: "We would like to urge the public to be vigilant during the festive period and never leave candles unattended in the home. With homes being decorated for Christmas it is important that Christmas lights are turned off when leaving the house and electrical points are not overloaded."
