Former States deputy dies

Sunday 02 October 2016

Former St Helier deputy Jacqui Huet has died aged 69.

Deputy Huet was first elected to the States as a representative for St Helier No 3 in 1993, and was successfully re-elected in the following five elections, before being defeated in 2008.

For four of her years in the House she was the president of the Overseas Aid Committee.

More concerned with parish issues rather than Island-wide decisions Deputy Huet once said she preferred to do most of her work outside of the glare of the media.

In a social media posting current St Helier Deputy Richard Rondel writes: “so sorry to hear that Jacqui Huet, former deputy, has passed away – an incredibly hard working, well respected lady with common sense.”
