A “prolific burglar” has begun a four-year prison stretch for a series of 24 charges relating to a spree of thefts from July 2012 to March 2015.
Kevin Falle was arrested after an investigation by the police’s “Proactive Crime Team” looking into break and entries at residential properties – and police say that anyone committing similar offences can expect a similar prison term.
Yesterday, Falle was jailed for four years by the Royal Court after facing 24 charges – 21 of which were for illegal entry and theft, or for breaking and entering.
The offences were committed at premises – mainly homes – across the Island.
Detective Inspector Steve Langford from the police’s Criminal Investigation Department said: “All reported commercial and residential burglary continues to be a priority for the States of Jersey police, and today’s sentencing indicates a positive outcome for the Force when targeting ‘prolific and priority offenders’ such as Kevin Falle.
“The investigation led by our ‘Proactive Crime Team’ resulted in the detection of a series of burglaries by one individual where residential premises were targeted and property taken. Some of these victims from these addresses weren’t aware their homes had been entered and we were fortunate to have recovered some of the stolen property.
“Although there continues to be a reduction in reported burglary in Jersey, we still recognise the impact it can have on a family knowing that your home has been entered by a total stranger. We would therefore remind the public to remain vigilant with regards to home security.
“We would also like to say those offenders who regularly continue to be involved in this type of criminality, that they will continue to be a focus for the Force and our Priority Crime Team, and that if caught they can expect to face similar consequences.
“We would encourage any persons who have any information on anyone involved in this type of crime, or may have been offered property which they suspect to be been stolen, to contact the Priority Crime Team at Police Headquarters or alternatively Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
