23,000 Easter travellers expected at airport

Friday 19 April 2019

Travellers are being urged to arrive to the airport early this long weekend, with as many as 23,000 passengers expected to pass through - and there's an Easter parking promotion for those who are driving.

According to Ports of Jersey, the airport will be charging a maximum of £76.80 for four days or more over the Easter weekend.

The offer is available for users of the main car park at Jersey Airport until Monday 22 April inclusive.

This is the first car park promotion Jersey Airport - which recently announced car park charges would go up by 14% - has offered since the introduction of new parking technology in early 2018.

The new system provides data enabling a better understanding of customer behaviour in terms of parking at the airport and Ports of Jersey wishes to offer better value to its customers for longer stays.

Jonathan Crick, Chief Commercial Officer for Ports of Jersey, explained: “Drivers only need to retain their parking entry ticket so that the pay machines will automatically limit the amount charged to the four-day tariff of £76.80, even if their length of stay is longer.

"We know that many travellers would prefer to drive themselves to the Airport, especially those travelling with their families and we hope that this offer will encourage more people to use our on-site car parking.

"Passengers arriving back into the Island may have had a long journey, so the convenience of having their own car parked at the Airport we hope will be considered a real benefit, with our special promotion, much better value for money.”

If the promotion proves to be a success, Ports of Jersey hopes to introduce similar incentives at other times of the year.
