French DJ to face Royal Court over 'dangerous driving'

A French DJ accused of driving his car the wrong way up the road before crashing it, is to face the Royal Court.

Bertrand Ollivier Le Goff (46), who forms part of the group 'BIG BRO', is facing six driving charges, including three of dangerous driving.

He is alleged to have driven his Volkswagen Passat against the flow of traffic on Gloucester Street on 12 October, having a head-on collision with another vehicle on Gorey Coast Road and then crashing into a wall.

Mr Le Goff, who was represented in the Magistrate's Court this week by Advocate Luke Sette, is also charged with “using a motor vehicle which it’s so unsuitable that danger was caused or likely to be caused to any person in or on the vehicle or on a road".

He is also charged with failing to stop and report an accident, and moving his car without informing a Police Officer.

Mr Le Goff, who was born in Madagascar, has also been charged with driving while over the legal limit.

Legal Adviser Susie Sharpe suggested that the case was too serious to be dealt with in the Magistrate's Court.

The Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu agreed, setting a date for formal committal to the Royal Court on 9 December.

The DJ will appear again in Court in November for an interim hearing and remains in custody until that date.
