A fundraising festival including traditional African food, dance, music, and a raffle will be taking place next weekend to support schoolchildren in Ghana.
The ‘Out of Africa’ event is being held in the upstairs clubhouse in the St Clement’s Partners Restaurant on Saturday 7 September in aid of Yen Mmofra Yen Man Foundation – an organisation based in Accra which aims to ensure that children can access education and the support necessary for their growth and development.
Ben Boakye, the founder of Big Ben's Fit Club in St Clement and Chairman of Yen Mmofra, is helping to organise the event.
He said the funds go towards school uniforms, shoes, bags, and other school supplies that underprivileged youngsters need for their learning, and which parents can rarely afford.
He added that Yen Mmofra even helps some older students go through university.

The event is set to have music from local group 'The Balafonics' and DJ Pete Bongo Beat.
There will also be authentic African cuisine, a bar, and a raffle with prizes including a Family Day at the Merton, meal vouchers, and an afternoon tea at Greenhills.
Tickets can be purchased for £25 by emailing bigbenje@hotmail.co.uk.
