The Met Office has issued its highest level warning, saying that very strong winds are about to hit the Island.
After the weekend’s “supertides” that have seen some spectacular images of waves breaking over the seawall in St Aubin’s Bay and at St Ouen’s, the latest warning is for gale force winds later today.
The Met Office “red warning” says that Islanders should expect a north-northwest wind at severe gale force nine, with gusts of up to 60 knots.
They say that the winds are expected to hit sometime in the afternoon or evening.
The red warning is the fourth and highest level of the “traffic light” system used by the Met Office, and means Islanders should “Avoid outside activity and follow the advice of the authorities”.
