Islanders are being given one last chance to mix with mermaids, dragons, and pop royalty... and join Mary Poppins on a holiday trip to La Corbière.

‘Fantasmagorical’ - a Harbour Gallery exhibition closing this weekend - features the work of over 20 artists working to a fantasy theme, in a variety of mediums including paintings, photography, prints, jewellery, interior decorations, up cycled material and 3D.

The exhibition features a large selection of brightly coloured paintings. While some of them depict eerie scenes and characters, others pay homage artists such as Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury and Marilyn Monroe.

David Bowie, Diana Ross and Morgan Freeman also feature in a series of drawings using the pointillism technique in which small dots are applied to form an image.

‘Fantasmagorical’ also includes a series of works featuring real and fantastic creatures, such as hawkmoths, owls, dragons and mermaids.

Images straight out of a dream – including Mary Poppins near La Corbière – also feature, along with wiry sculptures.

The exhibition feels like a whirlwind of colours and scenes, in a variety of styles that is sure to leave the visitor feeling like they stepped into a wonderland.

The magical exhibition follows the success of ‘Oddities & Curiosities’ hosted in 2018 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Art in the Frame Foundation, the charity that runs the Gallery.

“We gave you Oddities and Curiosities two years ago, and you’ve been asking for more ever since, so here it is... Fantasmagorical!,” Pat Robson, Charity Chairman and Gallery Director said.

“This really is THE exhibition to be seen at…, St. Aubin certainly won’t be boring! We are so pleased to be exhibiting some fantastic new art from very talented new artists to the gallery, along with some of your favourites…"

To mark the last weekend of the exhibition and to free up as much space as possible for their upcoming exhibition of prisoners' artwork, the gallery is offering 10% off all artwork in the exhibition until 16:00 on Sunday.
