Santa made a stop-off on his Christmas rounds last month to help light up Grands Vaux and raise more than £1,500 for Jersey Cancer Relief.

His appearance came as part of a Christmas lights display put together at the home of Derek and Pam Cauvain, with the help of John Hammon, at their home, Whiteley Close.

It is the latest display in what has become a 15-year tradition for them, having established an annual routine of putting up the lights in November and taking them down in January.

The £1,536.85 of proceeds were presented Cancer Relief Chair, Anne Pryke, and will help the charity in their work, which includes paying out £4,000 weekly, paying the salary of a cancer specialist nurse at the hospital and smear test funding.

For anyone wanting to take part in the festivities next year, the group are already looking ahead to their next display, and asking anyone who has any large donations or lights to contact Jersey Cancer Relief.

They even tease that Santa might bring his sleigh next time round…
