Residents of a town property had to flee from their home last night after a fire in the garden began to spread.
Nine firefighters from White Watch were sent to deal with the blaze, which had begun to spread to an adjacent property.
Two wearing breathing apparatus entered the property, which suffered damage to its roof and exterior, to put out the fire in the rear garden.
Meanwhile, other members of the crew checked the neighbouring property, and spent time making the area safe.
It's believed the fire was caused by a BBQ left to self-extinguish, though investigations are continuing.
Jersey Fire and Rescue have since praised the residents for their "quick actions" in ushering everyone out of the property, making sure the rear door was closed, and raising the alarm.
"Their actions in this instance, prevented a more serious fire taking hold to the actual property itself," the crew said.
"We would also like to remind members of the public to ensure that their bbq is fully extinguished before going to bed and placed away from the side of walls, fences or other combustible materials."
