The hunt is on to find a new home for a busy post office in St Aubin’s village.
Sandpiper is sending the one in the FoodHall packing in May and Jersey Post is looking to find somewhere else close by for it to move to.
Jersey Post Chief Executive Tim Brown said: “We are acutely aware that the post office in St Aubin is very much part of the community and obviously we’re very disappointed that the service can no longer continue within its current location. We’re hoping to find an alternative location and we’re very interested in hearing from anyone who feels they might be in a position to house the post office when the current service terminates in May.”
If the company can’t find somewhere suitable Islanders will have to go to the Co-op Locale stores in either Beaumont or Les Quennevais, the nearest to the one in St Aubin’s. Jersey Post says there are no plans for either of these to close in the foreseeable future.
It currently outsources 19 of the post offices to partners and retailers including Sandpiper, CostCutter and the Channel Island Cooperative Society. Sandpiper will stop running its service in St Aubin’s village on 12 May.
