New Director for Midwifery and Nursing

Friday 19 January 2024

A new Director of Midwifery and Nursing has been appointed by the Government to oversee areas of Health including maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, and neonatal services.

The appointment of Roslyn Bullen-Bells forms part of a broader effort to improve maternal care following a review of maternity services last year.

The Government said 87 out of 127 recommendations made in response to the review in the Maternity Improvement Plan have been completed, with one of these recommendations being to boost the department's leadership team.

Ms Bullen-Bell previously held senior roles in the UK, having been Director of Midwifery at two trusts in England. She was also the Maternity Workforce and Transformation Lead at NHS England.

The Government said ensuring an "optimum patient experience" would be "pivotal" to Ms Bullen-Bell's Jersey role.

Ms Bullen-Bell said she was "delighted to be joining Health and Community Services to support staff and patients".

"My passion is to celebrate and champion the unique contribution that the midwife and support worker can provide to enabling a safe and respectful culture of maternity care and ensuring a space is created for families in Jersey to have the experience and care they need and deserve,” she added.
