Renowned MC on the UK grime scene, Lethal Bizzle, is the latest name billed to play at Weekender Festival, a two-day music event taking place on the same weekend, and at the same venue, as Jersey Live.
Lethal Bizzle – whose real name is Maxwell Ansah – will be hitting the WKNDR Stage on day one of the end-of-summer festival on Saturday 2 September.
The London-born MC hit the grime scene with his top 10 single “Oi!” in 2002, and since then has enjoyed prominence within the genre, which is a mix of electronic, UK garage and jungle.
More recently, however, he’s become known for his viral slang catchphrase “dench” (meaning cool or impressive), and just three weeks ago launched a single with fellow grime artist Skepta, ‘I Win’.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the Weekender said:
“Having released a pretty diverse line-up of acts for the first Weekender Festival, we knew that a lot of our weekenders would be looking for something with a little more grime. So, with a solid electronic and guitar wielding line up, we're happy to announce that we're adding an MC. And who better than the legendary LETHAL BIZZLE, who'll be getting the whole field fester skanking and dreaming of 'raris.”
Islanders have since praised the new billing, with one commenting, “…It’s getting better and better”, and another simply lauding the artist as, “Dench”.
