Guernsey person sent fake covid ‘avoid’ list

Wednesday 03 March 2021

Authorities are urging islanders to be vigilant after a Guernsey resident was sent an email list of people they should avoid due to covid-19, purporting to come from the ‘World Health Organisation.'

Bailiwick Law Enforcement explained that the person was told in the scam email that they had been in contact with a positive covid case.

The individual was then asked to click on a link to see the list of people they should avoid.

BLE reminded islanders that, if really have been in contact with a positive case, they will be contacted directly by the 'Track and Trace' team.

They are urging everyone to keep their guard up against fraud as the pandemic continues, warning: “Criminals will use every opportunity they can to defraud innocent people.”
