GUIDE: Sail-abrate the return of the Jersey Boat Show

Friday 10 June 2022

Time for a sail-abration! The Boat Show is back, and here's what's on...

The Barclays-sponsored event is back on board for the first time since 2019, taking place between Friday 10 June and Sunday 12.

Over 80 exhibitors will be in attendance, showcasing their products and services, ranging from Genuine Jersey, to maritime and lifestyle brands, water activities and related products. There will be plenty of food/refreshment stands throughout the show based in the Arena and Weighbridge Place.

Here's a flavour of some of the main events...

Get up close with the big boats

Pontoons in St. Helier Marina will be open to the public with a large selection of vessels on display where visitors will be welcomed to look around.

Marine traders will be representing some of the leading brands such as Sunseeker, Princess, Fairline, Kawasaki and Dufour.

Pontoons open 1-7pm on Friday, 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.

Outdoor and Active Zone

Geomarines’ ‘Outdoor and Active Zone’ will be featuring activities both off and on the water this year.

It also includes a dedicated area for local leisure providers offering services and products to enjoy this year such as kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and rowing.

Confirmed activities to be taking place on the water this year include GB SUP and Jerseys Rowing Club races, e-foil demonstrations and also daily sky-dive performances into the St. Helier Harbour. Daily boat skills/safety sessions and RIB Blasts will be provided by Le Mourier. This will all be set up on the Albert Pier.

This will be located in the area around the old Steam Clock.

Rocking the waves

Local talent will be shown off on the Solent Stevedores main stage in Weighbridge Place.

The enticing programme includes Take This (Saturday 11 June), The Jersey Bounce (Sunday 12 June) and Michael Hutchings (Friday 10June). Other appearances over the weekend will include The Ad LiB Band, Hot Bananas, The L is M Band, Les Quennevais Steel Band, The Jersey Boys and more!

"In conversation with..."

New to the Boat Show, 2022 is bringing a new experience: 'In conversation with…' seminars, which will be held in the hospitality marquee on Friday afternoon and throughout Sunday.

It will be hosted by former Sky TV Journalist, Lucy Cotter, who will be conversing with a number of special guests. These will include the first female Rear Admiral of the Royal Navy, Jude Terry OBE.

Tech in action

Virtual reality headsets will be provided for use by The Royal Navy Outreach, assisted by interactive table-top STEM activities for children and adolescents.

These will involve physics, engineering and electronics. The Jersey Field squadron will be there also demonstrating their locally based assets.
