A man who stole more than £4,000 worth of jewellery from a house in town, and three designer fragrances from Boots, has admitted all of the charges brought against him.

Michael dos Santos Moreira (40) pleaded guilty on Friday to three charges related to thefts he committed earlier this year.

The Royal Court heard that Mr Moreira broke into premises in St. Helier in May of this year and stole items worth more than £4,000 including a pair of £80 Adidas trainers, a diamond engagement ring and a silver charm bracelet worth approximately £1,980.

On another occasion, Mr Moreira stole three designer fragrances from Boots and a £39 mobile phone from Grand Marché.

Mr Moreira was represented by Advocate Jane Grace who asked the Bailiff Sir William Bailhache, presiding, to order a medical report to examine her client’s psychiatric state.

The Bailiff, sitting with Jurats Pitman and Thomas, agreed to this request before ordering that Mr Moreira be taken into custody ahead of his sentencing.

Mr Moreira will be back in court to be sentenced on 23 November.
