It's like a scene out of a film script: a little girl who thought she had lost her favourite toy forever had the surprise of a lifetime after discovering that a replacement bought in a charity shop was actually the one she had been missing in the first place.
Young Edie (3) was gifted Woody - the famous main character of Pixar film 'Toy Story' - by her grandfather. Despite having him for just seven months, she quickly became attached.
"She used to tuck him into bed with her, take him to nursery, to her grandma's house over the weekend, out for dinner. When she had a bath she’d prop him up on her steps, she was worried about breaking him as he has a pull string," her mum, Nikki, told Express.
But disaster struck when she accidentally left him in St Helier's Parade Park three months ago.

Edie, who will be four in April, was understandably devastated when she lost the doll. Nikki said: "I believe we left him on the slide as Edie had been pushing him down but when we came back to look for him the same day, he was nowhere to be found.
"She was really upset to think that we may not find him but I explained that somebody else may have picked him up and they might be enjoying playing with him and happy to have him."
The little girl was inconsolable and despite offers from her mum to get another doll, she wanted her special Woody back. But much like Woody and Andy in the Disney movie 'Toy Story', Edie and her doll also had an happy ending.

Last Friday, while Edie and Nikki were out together, the little girl asked if she could go into the Oxfam charity shop to look at the Easter chicks on display. "We had a look around and as we were about to leave, she spotted a Woody in a basket of clothing. She shouted 'Mummy! Look! Woody!' and her little face lit up. She asked if we could buy him so we did so, for just 99p," Nikki explained.
But once home, Nikki realised there was something special about the doll. "When we took him home and I went to clean him, I noticed that he had a red felt tip pen line on the top of his head. The Woody doll that we had lost at the park had a red felt tip pen line in the exact same place so we were sure it was the doll we had lost. Edie was over the moon when I explained that it was her Woody doll. She gave him a massive hug and she hasn’t put him down since."
Having been reunited with her favourite doll, Edie is determined not to lose him again. After spending a week at home due to chicken pox, she refused to leave Woody home when she returned to school. "She won’t put him down. She takes him to bed, she takes him out wherever we go and if anybody touches him she gets really upset. She won’t even let me wash him either," her mum said.

Delighted to see her little girl being reunited with her favourite toy, Nikki shared the heartwarming story on the 12,000-strong 'Good or Bad Jersey Businesses' Facebook group. She thanked the stranger who handed Woody into the shop allowing him to find its way back to its rightful owner, adding that Edie was over the moon to have him back.
As a fellow member of the group commented, this tale might provide the spark for another instalment of the 'Toy Story' saga.
