Ninety students from Bayi High School in Beijing have been joining in lessons at Hautlieu in the last, the school it was officially twinned with in 2011.
It’s a whistlestop 24-hour visit to the Island for the students and is the last leg of their European tour. The principal at the prestigious Chinese school, Shen Jun, flew to Jersey especially for the visit to Hautlieu.
The Chinese students aged between 11 & 17 put on a special assembly at the school this morning involving poetry, singing and even some Kung Fu and it got a standing ovation from the Jersey students.
Mont Orgueil was opened up this afternoon so that students from both schools could hold a joint visit.
Last year a group of students from Hautlieu went to the school in China and the schools hope the two visits are the start of a long and fruitful international relationship between them.
