Heads on the move

Saturday 17 October 2015

Trinity School will have a new head in the New Year.

Kathryn McMahon is on the move from St Luke’s where she is currently deputy head and will take over from Nichola Turner who will be heading up Grouville School.

Jersey-born Mrs McMahon who went to Beaulieu, completed her teaching training at King Alfred’s College before becoming a teacher at La Moye School 20 years ago. She’s since worked at both St Mary’s School and Plat Douet and moved to St Luke’s in 2011 where she became the school’s deputy head.

Mrs McMahon said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as the new head teacher of Trinity School. I am committed to ensuring that every child is at the heart of what we do.

“I look forward to getting to know the Trinity community, building on its past successes, leading the school through a new curriculum, new assessment procedures and a building project.

“I’ve been fortunate to work alongside Caryn Stone, an inspirational head teacher who has supported me throughout my four years at St Luke’s.”

Seán O’Regan, Assistant Director and head of Standards and Achievement, said: “We have invested in prospective primary heads from within the local teaching workforce and it is bearing fruit. Mrs McMahon was successful against a field of high-calibre candidates. This is excellent news for Trinity School and also bodes well for future appointments.”

Education Minister Deputy Rod Bryans said: “Congratulations to Mrs McMahon. I wish her luck with her new challenge and am extremely pleased that we are finding high-quality primary head teachers from within our own ranks.”
