Hopes fading as search for Adrian continues

Wednesday 09 December 2015

Police say that it is unlikely that they will find missing Adrian Lynch alive, but are maintaining their massive search operation with divers searching Waterworks Valley this morning.

The 20-year-old went missing in the early hours of Saturday morning, and since then police have been trying to find him, calling in search aircraft, drones, sniffer dogs and teams of people on the ground.

This morning, diver search teams were searching Waterworks Valley which falls into one of 15 main search areas identified by the police.

One sighting was reported to the police yesterday when someone came forward to say that they had seen him in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Searches resume today, with sonar equipment being used in reservoirs in the search area.

A statement issued this morning said: “Adrian has now been missing for coming up to four days and the chances of finding him alive are unlikely, however officers and volunteers continue to search the areas he was last seen.

“A further possible sighting has been called in to police today in the area of the search.

“A number of enquiries will continue however open land searches will resume again in the daylight hours, as well as potential searches using sonar equipment.

“Officers and staff have been searching throughout the day, including Police Dogs, dive teams and shallow water searchers.”

Officers kept up the search last night – focussing on the spot where he was last seen at around 2 am on Saturday morning outside Bon Air Riding Stables.

His wallet and phone were found not far away, and there were reports yesterday that his belt was also found nearby.

Around 4,000 leaflets were dropped off to homes around St Lawrence, St Mary and St John with a full description of Adrian, and urging people to help with the search.
