An inquest into the death of a woman found dead in a St Helier flat will open today to allow her body to be returned to her native Portugal for burial.
Ana Rebelo (58) was found by family members in her Victoria Street home earlier this month, after she died due to, “...compression to the neck by a third party."
A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, but was later released on Police bail.
Police say they’re now pursuing over 160 lines of inquiry into her death and have seized 243 exhibits from the alleged murder scene as part of their ongoing ‘Operation Gable’ investigation.
The opening of the inquest today will allow Mrs Rebelo’s family to start making funeral arrangements.
