After the second full day of competition, Team Jersey are still top of the medal table in the 17th Island Games in Gotland.
Team Jersey are still looking strong heading into the third day of the friendly games, having accrued a grand total of 30 medals, just shy of the Isle of Man’s total of 32.
Having topped the tables in the 2015 Island Games with an impressive total medal count of 133, Team Jersey are looking to defend their title at this year's Games in Gotland.
The slogan of the Gotland Games this year is ‘memories for life’, a sentiment which certainly seems to be ringing true for some of Jersey’s younger competitors, including 16-year-old Cameron Aird who won gold in two Men’s Individual Gymnastic events.
Cameron's hopes for a team and individual medals were answered as Team Jersey took a total of eight medals in the Men's Gymnastics events.
The Men’s Cycling Team, consisting of Sam Firby, Howard Greenside, Daniel Halksworth, Jack Rebours and Jon Woolrich also took gold in the Team Time Trial event, completing the 37Km race in a cumulative time of 2 hrs 27 mins.
The Games will continue over the following week with the 220-strong Team Jersey, sponsored by Jersey Post, competing in Cycling, Swimming, Golfing and Shooting Finals. For a more detailed breakdown of what this week holds for Jersey's athletes, click here.
