Police are appealing for information after an attack by two men on another pair left one with head and face injuries needing hospital treatment.

They say the assault took place around 02:30 on Monday in Hilgrove Street.

The victims – two men in their late 30s to early 40s – had been passing by the back of Central Market and McDonalds.

One of the victims was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries.

Two men aged 25 and 27 were arrested following CCTV analysis of the incident, but they have since been released on bail.
